Laura Burress

 Laura Burress is an abstract watercolor painter that grew up in Auburn, Ohio.  She earned a B.S. in Art Education from the University of Dayton in Dayton, Ohio, in 2002. She currently lives in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. After she spent a year reigniting her creativity by exploring many different art mediums, she found abstraction. Abstraction has allowed her to access a painting process that promotes improvisation, ambiguity, and experimentation, attributes that are close to her inner monologue and personal philosophies.

Each of her art works is a tiny reminder of an inner life trying to connect with a world that seems foreign most of the time.  The colors, washes, shapes and marks in her paintings are her way of exploring the depths of human emotion, memories, sensory stimuli, connections to people and places and her sense of belonging within different community systems.
