Marina Viscun

Marina Viscun is a Moldovan-American writer who mines her varied background and experiences as a post-Soviet immigrant, middle-aged woman, US Navy veteran, food-exploration driven traveler, former college instructor, recovering film industry professional, and federal government employee. She enjoys sharing the little idiosyncrasies she observes, imagining the internal struggles of her characters that explode into external troubles, and exploring why human nature keeps on tripping us through our lives. Majority of her literary work come from her decade-long screenwriting experience and editorials on women directors. Currently she is adapting her short, feature and television scripts into both short- and long-form fiction, and exploring creative nonfiction’s memoir format for some of the projects. When someone comments on the variety of her careers, she answers that all the changes make her who she is, allows her to see the world through a multitude of lenses, and offers an opportunity to find herself in her characters. She loves the lives that she creates on the page because they are all diverse, flawed, and human, just like her and everyone else around her. She also likes good company, mostly all animals, and single-origin dark chocolate, reading, mindful walking, and culinary explorations, and is trilingual (English, Russian, and Romanian).
