Mindy Childress Herman is a director, producer and administrator who specializes in collaborating with artists to develop new work in theatre, television and audio drama. Over the past 25 years she has worked professionally in all aspects of the field. She teaches Theatre Management at Cleveland State University; is a co-producer at Micro Theater Cleveland, free pop-up festivals of short performances in small spaces throughout the city, and is the Producer in Residence of Arts in the Abbey, a performance initiative to revitalize the Hermit Club stage in Playhouse Square by showcasing the work of Cleveland’s artists.
For almost 20 years, she has been the Director of The Dark Room at Cleveland Public Theatre, a monthly series that supports new work by playwrights, poets and screenwriters. She directed and produced many critically-acclaimed site specific tours for Charenton Theatre Company, where she served as Producing Director for three seasons. She was the Director of Marketing and Communications at CPT from 2006-2010 and the Director of Marketing at DANCECleveland from 2010-2012. She has worked with The Beck Center, Near West, Dobama and Talespinner Children’s Theatre, among many others. She serves as a script consultant for playwrights & an adjudicator for various festivals and grantmakers. Mindy is also a casting director with a reputation for matching the right talent to projects in broadcast media, industrials, live performance, tradeshows and corporate events.
