Expressive Arts Project

The West Side Catholic Center (WSCC) was founded in 1977 by a group of faithful people who recognized a critical community need to address extreme poverty.  The mission is to assist all who come in need of food, clothing, shelter, advocacy, and a path to self-sufficiency.

As a trauma-informed Center, the Expressive Arts Project engages the community by hosting programs clients need while providing volunteers, supporters, and residents the chance to learn about their neighbors by experiencing their stories through art. Our staff has expanded the program based on clients’ interests and requests to be respectful of and responsive to the community. The Expressive Arts Project provides opportunities for different communities to come together, with art as the means to engage. The annual Expressive Arts Showcase expands the engagement to a larger community audience.
