Poetry Slam, '26
A spoken-word contest for students who attend a CMSD high school
The Poetry Slam seeks to amplify young voices and foster creative expression among high school students across public schools through a citywide poetry competition. This event will provide a platform for youth to share their stories, develop public speaking skills, and engage with the literary arts in a supportive community environment. Top prize for winning the competition: $1,200.

Local rap artist Aphiniti will serve as host for the event, which is free and open to the community. It’s an urban alternative to the Spelling Bee, which has more suburban appeal. A post-event reception will honor the contestants in the competition.
