Italian Cultural Garden Foundation

The Italian Cultural Garden, Cleveland’s cultural monument to Italy is the most visited by the public of 70 acres of gardens in Rockefeller Park. Dedicated in October 1930 as a “symbol of the contribution of Italian culture to American democracy” and honors cultural greats of Italy in the Arts & Sciences and Arts & Letters. It is the only cultural Renaissance garden in the U.S. and is home to the popular, annual concert “Opera in the Italian Garden” in July. It was conceived and designed in the spirit of the Italian Renaissance with large walkways, balustrades, benches and two large winding staircases leading down to a lower level amphitheater and second Renaissance fountain.
